  • CFAV Annual Meeting—Friday February 15, 2008
    Vermont Technical College. Morey Lounge.

  • Lynn Levine, a founding member of the Consulting Foresters Association of Vermont, has just written a book for the beginner tracker. Mammal Tracks and Scat: Life- Size Tracking Guide is a year-round, waterproof guide, with life-size illustrations of both tracks and scat (Yes scat!). Both track and scat sections are organized with an original key to help the tracker determine the species of animal, and become a detective gathering evidence to discover the "story" at the scene of the mystery. Levine has worked as a forester and environmental education for the last 30 years. Her skill as a tracker began with the help of a trapper/logger who helped her look down instead of just up at the trees. For more information you can go to her website Heartwoodpress.com and order the book.

The objectives of this organization shall be to promote and strengthen the role of private consulting
foresters in the long term conservation and management of Vermont’s natural resources.
